This Saturday we head to Doomben for the BRC Doomben Cup meeting. It is a very busy day for the stable with 12 runners across the nine-race card. Golden Boom returns after a luckless run first up, Tick Tock Queen has her final run before The Stradbroke, and King Kapa will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing first-up run.

10. Saucey Horsey | J: Ben ThompsonSaucey Horsey is having her second start for the stable after a solid on pace victory at the metropolitan meeting at Toowoomba late last month. She does step up in grade, but she comes down to 53kg with Ben Thompson taking the ride. She will race on speed, and if the track stays in the soft range this will increase her chances.

5. Mighty | J: James OrmanMighty is first-up here for her winter carnival campaign. She is a half-sister to the high-class mare Isotope, won first-up last preparation, and we believe she has improved this time in. Jimmy will most likely take her back from the barrier, and she should be very strong late. With any luck in running, she is going well enough to be very competitive.

15. Certainlycan | J: Jordan ChildsCertainlycan will make her race day debut after four impressive trials in New Zealand. Her work since arriving to the stable has impressed us and although running in a stakes race to start her career is a big ask, we expect her to run well on what she has shown us so far.

11. Tick Tock Queen | J: Kyle Wilson-taylorTick Tock Queen steps up to 1600m for the first time in her career. She got back and hit the line hard over 1400m in the Silk Stocking at the Sunshine Coast a fortnight ago, and this looks like the perfect race to try her out over the mile. From barrier one she will be able to settle much closer in the run, and should be very strong late. Kyle knows her well, and if she gets the right run at the top of the straight, we think she should be very hard to beat.

13. Princess Rhaenys | J: Ryan MaloneyPrincess Rhaenys was excellent when luckless first-up for the stable at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. We have kept her at the 1600m, and the three weeks between runs we feel will suit her. She will need some luck from the barrier, but she is a classy mare and with even luck in running, she can be right in the finish.

4. Golden Boom | J: Ryan MaloneyGolden Boom did a great job to only be beaten just under two lengths, when traveling wide without cover at this track first-up a month ago. He went back to the trials to tick over for this, and won his heat impressively. He will race handy from the inside draw and be very strong late. He is our best winning chance of the day.

15. Bezique | J: Ben ThompsonBezique did far too much work from the barrier first-up, after a long layoff at this track a month ago. The four weeks between runs has allowed her plenty of time to get over that run, and her work has pleased us leading into this race. Ben Thompson gets back on, and he knows her well. She maps to get a nice run from the barrier and she certainly has the class to be competitive.

11. King Kapa | J: Ben ThompsonKing Kapa is second-up after an uncharacteristic poor run when resuming late last month. He has since won a trial at Doomben, and looks to be back on track for this race. The barrier looks a touch tricky, and he will need some luck early, but he has very good ability and looks one of the major players in this race.

15. Shamrock Lu | J: Kyle Wilson-taylorShamrock Lu ran a great race in a very strong Benchmark 90 behind Far Too Easy at this track four weeks ago. He trialled well at Doomben with Kyle on board and looks to get a nice run from his midfield draw. This is a strong race, but he is a consistent horse and has the form to be competitive in a race like this.

11. Hilal | J: Ryan MaloneyHilal was good in a blanket finish in the ATC Cup at Caloundra a two weeks ago. He has drawn a wide barrier, but the fact that he is gets down in the weights should help him here. He gets back to his right trip and with some luck early, he should be competitive again.

13. Vinco | J: Ben ThompsonVinco ran on strongly from last, when resuming in the ATC Cup over an unsuitable 1200m last time he stepped out. He is a horse that gets better throughout his preparation, but this is the perfect race for him second-up. This does look to be the one of the strongest BRC Sprints in recent years, but he proved he was up to this grade on Magic Millions Day in the summer. He should again be one of the best closers in the race

9. Madame Odette | J: Ryan MaloneyMadame Odette has been great in all three of her runs this preparation. She got back from the wide draw in her last run, and was terrific late over the 1800m. She will most likely be back in the field again from the tricky draw again here, but the step up to 2000m will suit her. If she can find the right horses to follow from the 600m, we expect her to be right in the finish.
