EDITOR'S CHOICE

Overall rating

PlayUp is an Australian owned bookmaker offering markets on every major sport and racing market you can think of, with competitive odds and very friendly customer service. Based in Sydney and licensed in the Northern Territory, PlayUp was launched as a consolidation of several smaller bookmakers including TopBetta, betting.club, ClassicBet and MadBookie. They are one of the fastest growing bookmakers in Australia and have recently expanded into the US.

We’ve explored what PlayUp has to offer account holders in relation to markets, odds, interface use and odds.  Read our full review to learn more.

App user experience

Upon creating a PlayUp account, it was a simple process to get verified and make our first deposit with options including Visa, Mastercard, EFT, BPAY, POLi and CashUp.

PlayUp’s site is incredibly easy to navigate with links for ‘Next to Race’ thoroughbred, harness, and greyhounds (Australian and international races) at the top and all current featured markets displayed on the left-side menu.

PlayUp’s layout is very similar to other popular online bookmakers which helps punters to feel right at home among the ‘dark’ themed platform with their signature green accents.

It’s worth noting that the pop out form guides available on the desktop site are really useful for racing punters.

The mobile site is an optimized version of the desktop platform where the interface has been simplified for easier use on a mobile device.

WEB user experience

Akin to the App, the website is incredibly easy to navigate, with clearly identifiable key features like Next To Jump from the dashboard, quick links for key/feature markets, and the betslip, account, and rewards all clearly identifiable.

The layout is familiar to other key bookmakers, powered on an extremely smooth and quick platform, the experience is on par with the top players.

The colour palette is appealing, with dark themed background, popping with their signature green accents and sharp unintrusive promotional graphics.

Product features

REWARDS: The “My Rewards” feature is clear and simple to gauge what is on offer for the user. With the new release of “preferences” in this section, you can choose the rewards that suit you, completely personalising your betting experience.

MULTI EXPRESS: The recently released “Multi Express” is the perfect feature for any multi player. Presented in a next to jump format, market leaders are displayed by default, allowing for “express” selecting, with the ability to drop down the full field, and importantly, all done within one page. Very innovative and a step above similar products offered by other bookmakers.

PLAYUP/DRAFTSTARS: Two platforms built into one. Users can switch between PlayUp and Drafstars platforms by toggling on the logos to the top left, and in proving their tech savviness, the switch between two products is seamless, maintaining all account features without any friction.

Further to this, PlayUp also offers a lot of weird and wonderful niche markets with categories including the Elections and Entertainment, which can be found by clicking on ‘More Markets’.

PlayUp has all the racing markets a punter would expect with Multi bets and Exotics including Quinellas, Exactas, Trifectas, First Fours and Quaddies. pricing & odds

Looking at some random markets, we checked to see what odds were on offer for the favourite, EL CASTELLO in the Vic Derby (2/11/24), and at the time of checking the results were as follows:

PlayUp: $4.80

Unibet: $4.80

Sportsbet: $4.50

Betr: $4.80

TAB: $4.80

TopSport: $4.40

Ladbrokes: $4.80

PlayUp was on par with multiple key bookmakers, heading a couple of other prominent players. With a scan and compare across multiple markets vs. the above mentioned bookmakers, the theme was much the same and in summary, PlayUp is evidently more than competitive across the board.

Customer Service

We know major factors in choosing a bookie is knowing how they treat punters and to what extent they provide customer service.

The experience we had with PlayUp is top notch. Every client has the opportunity to have their own account manager for a personalised experience. Phone betting is available 24/7, which is especially great for in-play betting and getting the latest odds to confirm your bet. We gave this a try and found it to be extremely simple. There is also a 24/7 helpline, so you don’t have to wait until ‘standard’ hours to get in touch
