The All-Star Mile is a premier Group 1 race for middle-distance horses, run under Weight-For-Age (WFA) conditions during Melbourne’s Autumn Racing Carnival. Held at Flemington Racecourse on the prestigious ‘Super Saturday’ meeting, the race offers a remarkable $2.5 million in prize money, making it one of the most lucrative events of the season.
Introduced in 2019 as a Victorian response to New South Wales’ high-profile additions like The Everest and The Golden Eagle, the All-Star Mile stands out with its unique selection process. For the 2025 edition, entry into the race will be determined through three pathways: public nominations, ‘win-and-you’re-in’ qualifying races, and wildcard entries. The field is capped at 16 runners.
Qualifying races include notable events like the Listed Elm Stakes, the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes, the Group 1 Futurity Stakes, the Group 1 Australian Guineas, and the Group 2 Blamey Stakes. The race consistently attracts elite middle-distance gallopers from across Australia and New Zealand.
The inaugural winner, Mystic Journey, claimed victory in 2019, and the race was elevated to Group 1 status in October 2024, further solidifying its place as a marquee event in Australian racing.
