The Sires is almost 100 years older than the Golden Slipper, and is the second leg of Sydney’s Triple Crown for two-year-old’s.

The Randwick 1400m asks the juveniles to race an extra furlong more than they did in the Slipper, with most of the field traditionally stepping up to that distance for the first time.

The Golden Slipper formlines are usually to the fore of favouritism for The Sires, and it is often the best run from that race that takes it out. Look for horses that are running on well in the Slipper, and that are perhaps bred to be better at the longer trip.
