The Tattersal’s Tiara is the final Group 1 race of the Australian season, held two weeks after Stradbroke Handicap day at Eagle Farm, and putting a full stop on the Queensland winter carnival. The race was created in the late 80s for the fillies and mares, and was awarded Group 1 status in 2007.
The key lead-up is the Dane Ripper Stakes, held a fortnight earlier, and some mares will have run in the Stradbroke on the same day. There aren’t usually many mares that have stayed up from the Sydney autumn carnival, from races like the Coolmore Classic and Queen of the Turf.
