The Q22, previously known as the PJ O’Shea Stakes, is the feature WFA race on Stradbroke Handicap day. 22oom is a unique distance for a high profile WFA race, which helps distinguish it on the racing calendar.
Similar to the Doomben Cup, run over 200m shorter three weeks earlier, this race has attracted a targeted increase in prizemoney in an attempt to lure a higher calibre of horse to Brisbane. In recent years, Kenedna (2019) and Zaaki (2021) have won the Doomben Cup / Q22 double.
