If The Everest is the jewel in the crown of the Sydney spring racing carnvial, the Golden Eagle run on Derby Day isn’t far behind. And The Silver Eagle is the key lead-up to that race, held over 1300m with the Golden Eagle taking place at Rosehill over 1500m.

The beauty and unique selling point of the “Eagle Series” is that it is restricted to four-year-old’s only. One of the ideas behind the concept is to give three-year-old stallions something to target the following season instead of being retired off to stud, and the 1300m-1500m distance of the races gives both sprinters and milers a chance to win.
