The team look to round out a successful Warrnambool Carnival week with runners across Sandown and Gosford. We are headlined by Bella Nipotina leading a three-pronged attack across to Morphettville to defend our title in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes, in what we hope is a continuation of success in the SA Autumn Carnival, after Affaire A Suivre took out last week’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks.

6. Senegalia | J: Ms Carleen HefelScratched during the week due to the heavy track, Senegalia returns here over a month between runs with Carleen Hefel to ride. We were pleased with her most recent run against some quality opposition, running to within 1.5 lengths of Veranskova. From barrier 10 prior to scratchings, we’ll look to be positive from the gates, and with just the one turn, sitting in the first four. She looks like a nice top-three chance in what is an open race.

3. Unusual Culture | J: Ms Carleen HefelUnusual Culture returns here a month between runs, after a gritty win last start and a nice jump out in-between. Carleen Hefel retains the ride claiming 2kgs, stepping up to the 1600m from a favourable draw. We’ll look to be positive, having her just behind the speed. With a few in this race also nominated for Adelaide, and in what is an open race, she too looks like a good top-three chance.

3. Normandy Bridge | J: Harry CoffeyNormandy Bridge drops back from the 2600m in the Chairman’s Quality, where he battled on only fairly. In his defence, he ran to within 4.5L of the winner in a slowly run affair on a bog track, having sat at the tail of the field. From barrier 12, Harry Coffey will look to go back and ride him to finish off strongly. The favourite looks like a nice horse, but this is a big jump in grade, with our boy presenting as an EW bet at the current quote.

5. Chassis | J: Ms Carleen HefelChassis continues here second-up and a month between runs, having elected to bypass a start during the Warrnambool Carnival. It was a disappointing last start on face value, though she does generally improve second up, and is one from one at this trip. From barrier 12, Carleen will be instructed to ride her midfield with decent speed in the race. We expect a marked improvement in what is a very open race.

2. Namesake | J: Jason CollettNamesake returns to the races having won on debut, despite doing plenty wrong. With a handful of these accepting for the Group 3 at Sunshine Coast, it is hard to get a read on the likely field at the time of writing. He has a great attitude and has strengthened up since his first up run. We see pace from Fludway and Ostraka with Namesake sitting just off the speed. In an open race, he looks a bet at the current quote.

5. Biscayne Bay | J: Regan BaylissBiscayne Bay returns here for her fourth start of the prep, stepping up to the 2100m with Regan Bayliss to ride. She was taken back from the wide draw last time out, and with the tempo being seven lengths above average, the race was run to suit. She never looked comfortable and didn’t let down like we know she can on that occasion, with the market appearing to be taking her on trust here. From the good draw in a field void of much depth, we’re siding with them.

4. Zoe's Promise | J: Regan BaylissZoe’s Promise disappointed last time out, overdoing it in the run on what was a bog track. We’ve given her time to recover from that, seeing her work well in the lead-up to this, and noticeably improving in condition. From barrier 9, we’ll look to have her on the speed with Military Expert and Attractable in company. With luck early, she presents as an EW bet at the odds.

1. Bella Nipotina | J: Ben MelhamThe stable star steps out in what is a third racing jurisdiction this prep, after a huge run from back in the field in The Quokka. We suspect she won’t get as far back this time out from barrier 5, where she’ll ideally find herself midfield and off the rail. We elected to keep her in AUS, bypassing a Royal Ascot appearance this year. She’s thriving, will get a soft track, and we see no reason she won’t be fighting out the finish.

3. Marabi | J: Ben AllenLast seen in the Lightning Stakes in Feb, Marabi returns here with Ben Allen heading over to take the ride. From barrier 7, we’ll look to push forward and sit outside the lead, likely to be in the form of Passive Aggressive. She may not be back to her best, though she worked really well on Monday in preparation for this. Her best would see her go close, but we’d be taking her on trust.

13. Ruthless Dame | J: John AllenOur third representative in the Group 1 today, Ruthless Dame returns after a pleasing run in an incredibly fast run Coolmoore Classic over 1500m. From barrier 12, we’ll look to be positive from the gates and sit behind the speed. We’ve since placed her at our beach facility, where we’ve seen her thrive, harbouring an improved action. She’ll need to improve again here, but she has the benefit of a jockey with much big-race success at the track.

8. Seven Veils | J: John AllenIt was a huge return from Seven Veils last start, in what was her first run for the stable. After competing at group level the past five starts prior, it was a huge run having to round the field, hitting the line as strong as anything. She’s improved since then, presenting as a good EW bet, with Johnny Allen to ride.

9. Royal Merchant | J: Michael DeeRoyal Merchant returns here after a tough watch last start, where she did all but win, powering home after finally getting clear air. From barrier 4, Mick Dee will look to positive, having her on pace. This is a step up, but she doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
