We have a relatively small team heading to the races today, albeit we’ll arrive with no less confidence than usual, with the majority of runners having a great chance to add to what has been an excellent seven days for the stable with feature wins across the Warrnambool and Adelaide carnivals, in and amongst multiple winners at Sandown on Saturday.

5. Wallenda | J: John AllenWallenda will have taken plenty of benefit from that first-up run, getting a little lost in the straight and outsprinted over the 1000m on the Heavy track at Orange. Our data suggests he’s improved, working nicely in the lead-up to this. From barrier 3, Johnny Allen will look to be positive, having him on pace where he presents as a top-three chance.

10. Sacramento Joe | J: John AllenSacramento Joe steps out here second-up after kicking off his prep over 1500m. He went back that day, with the intent of hitting the line strongly. He was steadied at the 800m and carried wider at the 200m, but was still able to finish within a few lengths of the winner, running the fastest last closing splits of the race off a four-month break. Up to 1800m here, and from barrier 4, Johnny Allen will look to ride him where he’s comfortable, allowing him to go through his gears in the straight. He’ll improve with an additional run and a bit further in trip, but presents here as a top-three chance.

7. Southern Chilli | J: Thomas StockdaleSouthern Chilli will be looking for three on the bounce with Tom Stockdale to partner her for the first time, claiming 1.5kg. From barrier 7, we’ll look to be positive, using her natural speed to be on pace in what we see as a wide-open affair. She’s yet to run poorly and we don’t see that changing here, presenting as a good EW betting prospect at the time of writing.

9. Movader | J: Thomas StockdaleMovader is second-up here after being posted wide without cover throughout last start, albeit it probably aided her in finding the better ground in the straight. Continuing the trend of having not missed a place in six starts, it was a pleasing return there on the Heavy 8 at Ararat, being headed on the post by a race-fit horse, gapping third. With Tom Stockdale to ride from barrier 13, we’ll need early luck in having her cross to sit on pace with cover, but if she does, we hope to see her fighting out the finish.

7. Court Deep | J: Thomas StockdaleCourt Deep returns here seven weeks between runs, with a pleasing jump-out in between. On paper, he runs well first-up, is two from two on the heavy, and has had success over this type of trip. With the blinkers applied and Tom Stockdale to ride claiming 1.5kg, the aim will be to have him in a prominent position, utilising the nice gate. In a wide-open race and with conditions to suit, there’s some confidence he’ll run better than his price suggests.

10. Semana | J: James McdonaldSemana jumps out here over the 1400m, with J-Mac to ride from barrier 4. With the speed coming from This’llbetheone and Fuller, we’ll look to be on pace from the favourable draw, which can be advantageous on the tight Kensington circuit. This filly has only missed a place twice in eight starts, and we again trust her to be fighting out the finish under the saddle of the world’s best.
