RACE 1XXXX Bat out of Hell, 850m

6. The Move | J: Tim Clark

The Move is first up from a spell after a short Melbourne Spring campaign. He has won twice first up before, and his trials have been very good in preparation for this race. Tim Clark takes the ride and from the good gate, we expect a forward showing.

DANGERS: 2. JE SUIS BELLE, 4. GOLDSBOROUGH

1. Le Palmier | J: James Orman

Le Palmier resumes after a very good summer preparation. His trials have been terrific, and he has found a perfect race for this first-up run. He won the Swiss Ace Plate at this track leading all the way back in November, and if he can replicate that performance, he will be very hard to beat here. If he jumps cleanly, he will roll to the front and take plenty of catching.

DANGERS: 2. JE SUIS BELLE, 4. GOLDSBOROUGH

RACE 3Aquis Stallions Gold Coast Bracelet, 1800m

8. Compass Rose | J: Ms Angela Jones

Compass Rose returns to the races after a dominant win at Doomben a month ago. She had a nice jump out last Thursday to tick her over, and regular rider Angela Jones could not be happier with her. This is a step up in grade, but she is a very promising filly. Provided she holds her form from last run, we expect her to be right in the finish.

DANGERS: 1. WOLVERINE, 4. STREET GOSSIP

5. Madame Odette | J: Ryan Maloney

Madame Odette showed she was up to this class when second in the Princess Stakes at Doomben a fortnight ago. She should appreciate the step up in trip and, if Ryan can get some luck from the wide draw, there is no reason why she won’t be in the finish again.

DANGERS: 1. WOLVERINE, 4. STREET GOSSIP

RACE 5Attwood Marshall Lawyers Silk Stocking, 1400m

10. Love Sensation | J: Ms Angela Jones

Love Sensation heads back to the Sunshine Coast for her first-up run, at a track and trip where she won twice last preparation. This is much stronger, but her trial earlier this month was terrific, and her work has been good enough for her to run well in a race like this. She looks to get a great run from the barrier and with the light weight, she is a very nice each way chance.

DANGERS: 1. TYCOON EVIE, 6. KATALIN

12. Tick Tock Queen | J: Tom Sherry

Tick Tock Queen gets to a more favourable trip for her second up run. She was great first up at Eagle Farm, running the fastest last 600m of the race. This is a big step up in grade, but her win in the Gateway would put her right in the finish of a race like this. She will again need some luck from the barrier, but will be running on strongly at the finish.

RACE 6Brandons Gold Coast Guineas, 1200m

6. Millane | J: Ryan Maloney

Millane makes his debut for the stable after being transferred to Queensland from Peter Moody. His form early in his Victorian career shows he is up to these races, and if he can find that form again, it certainly wouldn’t be a shock to see him run well here. He has drawn to do no work in the run and his jumpout last Thursday pleased us enough to make us believe he can put in a forward showing.

DANGERS: 1. FASHION LEGEND, 2. YELLOW BRICK, 12. LADY LAGUNA

RACE 8Australian Turf Club Trophy, 1200m

1. Hilal | J: Ryan Maloney

Hilal returns to the races after a slightly disappointing run at Doomben a month ago. He had a jumpout last Thursday to tick him over for this. The drop in weight and the low draw should help him return to his best, and if he can do that, he can be in the finish.

DANGERS: 5. FAR TOO EASY, 2. PALAISIPAN, 17.SALATEEN

3. Vinco | J: Ben Thompson

Vinco returns to the races after winning the Magic Millions Cup in January. He usually needs the run first up, but his work and trials have been very good in the lead up to this. He will get back from the gate and we expect him to be running on well.

DANGERS: 5. FAR TOO EASY, 2. PALAISIPAN, 17.SALATEEN

15. Ef Troop | J: Tim Clark

Ef Troop steps up to the 1200m second-up here. Tim Clark takes the ride and the drop down in weight will suit him. He has drawn to do no work in the run, and he has the form to measure up in races like this. He will improve from his first-up run and is a great chance at odds.

DANGERS: 5. FAR TOO EASY, 2. PALAISIPAN, 17.SALATEEN

17. Salateen | J: Chad Schofield

Salateen was terrific over 1100m behind Far Too Easy at Doomben a fortnight ago. Her work since has been great and she races well over 1200m. Provided Chad can find cover from the midfield draw, she will be right in the finish. She is our best chance in the race and our best each way chance of the day.

RACE 9Men Matter Raceday 29 July Benchmark 85 Handicap, 1600m

3. Aussie Nugget | J: Ms Angela Jones

Aussie Nugget ran on very well over an unsuitable trip first-up at Doomben. He gets to the mile second-up and with Angela’s claim, is very well placed here. He looks to get a nice run with cover, and he will appreciate the big track. We expect him to be running on strongly and be right in the finish.
