Devil’s Throat is a horse that comes to hand quickly, so as with his previous preparations he heads to the races Saturday off the back of a single trial. From the soft draw, I expect to see him put himself just behind the speed, and he should be giving himself every chance.
DANGERS: 3. SHALAILED, 4. CONRAD
Substantial travelled back from Brisbane in good order after his second at Eagle Farm last start, and the 1500m here should suit him nicely. He is an on-speed runner that will make his own luck. I expect to see him in the first three, depending on the tempo.
DANGERS: 2. DEMOCRACY MANIFEST, 6. COTEHELE
I thought California Surreal’s first-up run was far better than it looked at first glance. She had a terrible gate, and just got too far back where it was difficult to make up any ground. She was very strong through the line, and I think we will see sharp improvement on Saturday.
DANGERS: 16. ANAGAIN, 7. DARALINA BELLE

Mirra View was terrific first-up on a very wet track. We will leave our final decision on whether we run her or not until Saturday morning, given the wide draw. She ran so well first up and has improved fitness wise thanks to that run. She should be competitive in a race like this, but we would like a couple of scratchings just to soften her draw.

Miss Hellfire has been going well at mid-week level this preparation, but has just been utterly luckless. Hopefully her luck may be chanGing after drawing barrier 1. From the gate, I would like to see her settle a little closer than she has been in her recent outings, and hopefully we see some sharp improvement from her on Saturday.
DANGERS: 16. ANAGAIN, 7. DARALINA BELLE, 6. CALIFORNIA SURREAL
Queen of Dragons heads to Queensland first-up off two very nice trials. She has drawn a lovely gate, which should allow Ryan to find a nice spot. She is a quality filly, and I think she will give herself every opportunity to be a winning chance on the day.
DANGERS: 1. RUSSIAN ALLIANCE, 4. ABOUNDING
I couldn’t be happier with the way Huetor has trained on since the Hollindale. It was an enormous run last start, and it’s great to have Ryan stick with him. Huetor was very strong through the line in the Hollindale, and the extra distance on Saturday looks ideal. Luck in running will play major role in whether he can turn the tables on Zaaki again this year.
DANGERS: 1. ZAAKI
It’s a much smaller contingent for the stable this Saturday but hopefully we have a bit of luck. All the best to our connections.
A small team heads to Doomben this Saturday. Transatlantic aims to back up his impressive last start win in race five and Star Of Chaos takes on stablemate Brentwood in the last. Good luck to all connections! Gollan Racing Team
We’ll hope to keep the good times rolling and have a huge hand entered to do just that, headlined by ESTRIELLA in the Sunlight Classic, PRIDE OF JENNI doing battle in the Australian Cup, RUTHLESS DAME in the Emancipation, ASHRUN in the Tancred and ANOTHER WIL and BERKSHIRE SHADOW in the Doncaster Prelude. Good luck […]
